South East Melbourne Phoenix coach Josh King interviewed for the Portland Trail Blazers’ vacant head-coaching job during the offseason, the NBL report says, citing ESPN Australia’s Olgun Uluc. King held a 90-minute Zoom interview with new Portland owner Tom Dundon and was described as a legitimate candidate in a wide-ranging search. King has led Phoenix to the playoffs in each of his first two NBL seasons, while Uluc noted the club finished third last season despite ranking second-last in NBL26 cash spending. Brian Windhorst said King should remain on NBA teams’ lists, highlighting the NBL’s growing coaching pipeline. No NBA offer or follow-up has been announced.
