NBA Africa Plans 55 Mutombo Courts

NBA Africa and Quest Water Global will build or renovate 55 basketball courts across the Democratic Republic of the Congo by 2030, honoring Dikembe Mutombo, according to the NBA’s official announcement. The project began Sept. 29 with a court unveiling at Cercle Onatra in Kinshasa, where Mutombo first played, and a second court is planned for his hometown of Mbuji-Mayi. The initiative supports NBA Africa’s broader goal of developing 1,000 courts across the continent over the next decade. Locations and timelines for the remaining courts have not been announced.
