NBL Head of Referees Scott Butler said officials must find ways to let play flow after Tasmania’s game against Melbourne produced 55 fouls and 72 free throws. Six players fouled out, while 27 free throws came in the first quarter; Butler said it was NBL27’s first game to reach 50 fouls, compared with six such games across NBL26. Referees will review previous rounds and scout upcoming matchups before game day. No specific officiating changes have been announced.
